Journey to Work

I boarded bus service 26 from Toa Payoh Interchange approximately at 12.20pm. I was listening to music and about to fall asleep cause I left office at 5.30 earlier and resuming my duty again at 2.00 pm. 

However, at the third bus stop there was a commotion between a bus captain and a passenger. The passenger was with a child age between 3 to 4 years old together with a covered bird cage. The passengers were denied boarding as he has a bird cage with him. I removed my earpiece to find out more. Everyone in the bus was silent. 

What  I want to share was not about passengers were denied boarding but how the bus captain handle the situation. I do understand the weather was hot and humid. Just because the weather is hot, it should not deter you from performing your duty. The choice of words, voice tone and body gesture shows he was unprofessional in his job. Instead of explaining to passenger why he was been denied boarding and apologetic about the coins he had dropped into the coin box which are not refundable or retrievable. He should also provide alternate solutions. 

This what he said, "Not my problem. You can walk. The money I cannot take out. No. No. Don't give me problem".  

Temperature around 32 degree Celsius and you are asking a 3 years old child to walk. This kid will get dehydrated or even heat stroke. We, as an adult cannot stands the heat how about this little child. 

I wonder how this bus captain been awarded with PSB Star or Excellence Gold/Silver/Bronze award. I saw the pin on his collar uniform. I traveled by bus service 26 to work and I have seen different bus captain. They handled the situation better than this bus captain. Enough about the bus incident. 

Alhamdulillah, Allah Almighty answer my prayers. Today the operations runs smoothly as planned. I managed to complete my tasks and off duty on time at 11.00 pm sharp.
