Incident: Further update on MH17
I'm watching Live coverage at TV1, media conference at Hotel Sama-Sama, Sepang. It has been confirmed that MH17 has been shot down. The route was an approved route by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) and there MH were not given any notice (that it is not an approved route). 15 out of 16 Asia Pacific countries were also using the route (e.g. Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and others). After this incident, ICAO suggested a different route. They have now closed this route.
During this incident, Singapore Airlines was just 21 km away behind flight, MH17.
The latest breakdown of known nationalities of those on board is as follows:
173 Netherlands
44 Malaysians
27 Australians
12 Indonesians
9 United Kingdom
4 Germans
4 Belgians
3 Filipinos
1 Canadian
1 New Zealander
To the family members of late passengers and crews, do stay strong. You are not alone. We feel you.
May the passengers and crews of MH17 soul rest in peace. To my Muslims brothers and sisters may your soul rest in peace and place among HIS righteous. Ameen ya rabb.
