A pilot has walked away unscathed after a light aircraft crashed into a highway in California.
The plane smashed into westbound side of the 101 freeway in Agoura Hills on Tuesday, before ending up against the central divider.
Despite the crumpled aircraft bursting into flames, Los Angeles County fire department said the pilot, who appeared to be the only person onboard, was uninjured.
The pilot, identified only as Rob, spoke to local news channel ABC7 close to the scene of the crash.
"I picked a spot on the freeway, where I knew there was a big section of cars that weren't there, but the engine completely failed," he said. "Fortunately, I was able to not hurt anybody - other than the airplane."
The crash occurred around 1.45pm, with officials confirming no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
Both directions of the freeway were closed, with California highway patrol announcing all lanes would be closed for an "unknown duration".
