I am V I S U A L and A U D I T O R Y Learner

"Visual Learner"


  • Usually respond by saying 'I see what you mean', 'I get the picture', 'That looks great!'
  • Relaxes by watching a film or video, going to the cinema or reading a book
  • Prefer talking to other people face-to-face
  • Talks fast, seldom let others talk
  • Forget names but remember faces
  • When lost, will prefer to check maps than to ask for direction
  • When there is nothing to do, would prefer to doodle or watch people
  • When angry, will keep quiet and grow even angrier
  • Will reward good work with cards, letters or notes
  • Dress smartly, is tidy and organised
Can learn best by:
  • Writing down important facts, by using MInd Map
  • Visualising what they are learning
  • By creating pictures and diagrams of what they are learning
  • Using timelines to help remember important dates
  • Using picture, diagrams, films, videos, etc

"Auditory Leaner"
  • Usually respond by saying by saying "That sounds right', 'I hear you', 'That rings a bell'
  • Relaxes by listening to music or the radio
  • Prefer talking on the phone
  • Enjoy listening to others but is impatient to talk, talks in a rythmic voice
  • Forget faces but remember names
  • When lost, will prefer to be told of the direction
  • When there's nothing to do, will talk to themselves or others
  • When angry, will shout and have outburts
  • Will reward good work by praising verbally
  • Do not like to read books or instruction manuals
Can learn best by:
  • Attending seminars, presentation or explanation
  • By reading out loud what they are reading
  • Reading with emotion or accent
  • Making a tape of key points to listen to it in the car, when ironing or when exercising
  • Verbally summarise in their own words
  • By explaining subject to others
  • Using their own internal voice to verbalise what they are learning
